The Dallas Cowboys have given star right tackle La’el Collins permission to seek a trade, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The 29-year-old is expected to be released if a trade cannot be orchestrated.
Fantasy Impact: This is huge news considering Collins has been a pivotal piece of Dallas’ offense for the last four seasons. Despite the reliability he offers at right tackle, his hefty $15.25 million salary in 2022 makes him a clear candidate to be cut or traded. It will be interesting to see how long the Cowboys wait to take action. The team would carry $13.95 million in dead money while creating $1.3 million in cap space if they part ways with him this spring. However, if they wait until after June 1st, his departure would create just $5.25 million in dead money and a hefty $10 million in cap relief. Regardless, expect trench-needy teams like the Bengals and Jaguars to take a significant look into Collins’ availability and cost.
