Dallas Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz won’t attend the remainder of voluntary OTAs. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports that Schultz, who was franchise tagged in March, is “frustrated by the state of contract talks.” If an extension isn’t reached by July 15th, the tight end’s $10.931 million salary for 2022 will be locked in.
Fantasy Impact: Schultz had a fabulous, career-best 2021 campaign in the Dallas system. He caught 78 passes for 808 yards and eight touchdowns, supplanting Blake Jarwin in the Cowboys’ offense and finishing as the TE3 in fantasy football. Going forward, he is understandably seeking a new deal that rewards him for his great emergence. Recently, the Browns gave David Njoku a four-year, $56.75 million extension, perhaps setting a baseline for both Schultz and Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki, who is also franchise tagged. Heading into 2022, Schultz ranks as the TE7, according to ECR.
