Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told the media that quarterback Geno Smith has continued to receive first-team reps during OTAs. Thus far, the veteran signal-caller has held off Drew Lock, whom many expected would get the starting nod after being dealt from Denver to Seattle in the Russell Wilson trade.
Fantasy Impact: Speaking on both quarterbacks, Carroll said, “They’ve been really impressive, and it’s not been any one sequence here, or one day here, they have just been solid throughout.” He went on to add that “Geno’s still ahead, but it’s not going to be too much for Drew to be caught up. By the time we get through camp, he’ll be there.” Regardless of which quarterback gets the nod in Week 1, there’s no doubt that fantasy managers should temper their expectations when drafting any Seahawks player this summer. The downgrade from Wilson to either Smith or Lock will hurt both DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett’s status, as well as put a cap on Noah Fant’s ceiling and hinder the running backs, too. As for the quarterbacks themselves, both would rank outside of the top-24 range as starters.
