According to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network, Caroline Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said LB Shaq Thomspon would start training camp on the physically unable to perform list, saying he’ll be out for a couple of weeks.
Fantasy Impact: Entering his eighth NFL season, Thompson has begun to see an uptick in statistical production over the last few years. Over the last three seasons, Thompson has a combined 327 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, two interceptions and two forced fumbles. The Panthers are likely giving him the rest time in order to help him stay healthy in the long term. Thomspon has only played one full season in seven years. If he isn’t activated on time before the regular season begins, an already weak Panthers defense will only be weaker. The Panthers DST currently has an expert consensus ranking of DST21, according to FantasyPros.
