According to Greg Auman of The Athletic, RB Leonard Fournette’s trainer Jordan Bush said the running back returned “bigger than [they] wanted,” but they have gone through training to shed off the extra weight.
Fantasy Impact: Fournette is coming off his most productive fantasy season since his rookie year, finishing as an RB1 for the second time in five seasons. The LSU product had 1,266 scrimmage yards and 10 total touchdowns in 14 games in 2021. After reports came out that Fournette showed up to training camp well overweight, Bush said they put Fournette through “fat camp,” putting him through saunas and extra cardio every day to help shed off weight. If Fournette can get back into playing shape ahead of the season, he could become a value if public confidence continues to stay low as a result of weight concerns. Fournette now goes on average as the RB12 in PPR formats, according to FantasyPros.
