Patrick Mahomes is reportedly taking more ownership on offense with all of the new faces this training camp according to TheMMQB.com’s Albert Breer.
Fantasy Impact: Mahomes has already started gaining a rapport with newcomers Marquez Valdes-Scantling and JuJu Smith-Schuster in training camp, hooking up with both on some amazing catches. Mahomes has really taken control and worked on integrating his newest receiving weapons. MVS doesn’t have the cheetah speed lost with the trade of Tyreek Hill but he has more than enough to keep defenses honest over the top. JuJu gives Mahomes just about the most reliable short-range target he’s ever had not named Travis Kelce to take advantage of the space defenses like to give Kansas City’s explosive offense underneath. Mahomes knows he will have to make adjustments this season with defenses seemingly developing somewhat of a blueprint to at least slow the offense down at times last season. It is up to Mahomes to find the open receiver and attack defenses more intelligently than in past years when just chucking the ball downfield hoping Hill was open was a reliable option. It is good seeing the $500 million man take ownership of the offense with all the new faces and variables this season because it can only help his already QB1 caliber numbers.
