Patriots running back Ty Montgomery has put forth an impressive training camp and head coach Bill Belichick is taking notice. The veteran coach called Montgomery “great to work with” and a “wonderful kid,” then went on to add, “I look forward to working with him throughout the year.”
Fantasy Impact: Nothing is official until Week 1, but Belichick’s comments make it seem like Montgomery is a lock for a roster spot. His poise in both the running and passing games could translate to meaningful snaps, too. The 29-year-old appeared in 14 games for the Saints last season, totaling 44 rushing yards and 95 receiving yards. With speculation that Montgomery could fill the role of retired running back James White, expect the veteran to see frequent usage on passing downs. He currently ranks 116th among running backs in the latest ECR.
