Joe Flacco completed 37-of-59 passes for 307 yards with one touchdown and one interception in New York’s 24-9 loss to the Ravens in Week 1.
Fantasy Impact: Flacco started against the Ravens, the team he led to victory in Super Bowl XLVII, for the first time in his career and the result was the same as it was the majority of his time in purple and black, a Baltimore win. Flacco had defenders in his face all day as New York’s beat-up offensive line struggled to give him time against Baltimore. Flacco finished with over 300 yards and a touchdown but a lot of it came late after the game was out of reach. Either way, the numbers were there for fantasy purposes and his interception wasn’t his fault, as Lawrence Cager slipped and Flacco was throwing to a spot. Flacco will reportedly start until around Week 4 when Zach Wilson is expected to return. Despite the 59 pass attempts, there are just too many better fantasy quarterbacks out there for Flacco to be used in anything other than DFS formats where he offers low-cost value. Things don’t get any easier in the coming weeks with the Browns, Bengals, and Steelers all ahead on the schedule in September.
