According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, both Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers are open to him returning to the team next season “under the right circumstances.”
Fantasy Impact: Garoppolo has had an odd year that started with him requesting an offseason trade. It has ultimately led to him back starting under center since Trey Lance’s Week 2 season-ending ankle injury and leading the Niners to the top of the NCFC West through 12 weeks. Garoppolo has completed 205-of-304 pass attempts for 2,381 yards while tossing 16 touchdowns against only four interceptions. It remains to be seen what “the right circumstances” are but time will tell and it may have something to do with how Lance’s ankle heals.
