Saquon Barkley threatened to sit out the 2023 season as a way to show his worth to the New York franchise. Not satisfied with the offer the Giants made before the contract deadline, if Barkley decides to play, he will do so on the franchise tag.
Fantasy Impact: Barkley had a career resurgence in 2022, but unfortunately, it did not result in a contract. Recent holdouts have not worked out for teams giving long-term contracts to backs, being a negative return on investment. It’s a difficult road ahead for Barkley, especially if he sits out. If he does, look for the Giants to make a move on the free-agent market. If Barkley does return, then he’ll be a sure-fire RB1.
