Week 6 Target Forecast: What can we expect this week in fantasy football from some of the game’s top-pass catchers?
Doug Baldwin (SEA) at OAK – SUN 10:00 AM PT
Doug Baldwin was on the field for 88% of snaps in his Week 5 return, but saw an extremely disappointing 1 target. His matchup against the Raiders this week is definitely favorable and his production almost certainly will improve coming off such a weak performance. The Seahawks-Raiders game is set at a 48-point total, suggesting there’s enough potential for each team to throw the ball a healthy amount of times. Exercise caution in having too high expectations for Baldwin because of his plus matchup, but look for the wideout to see an increase of targets from last week as he faces off in the slot against a very beatable Leon Hall.

Alshon Jeffery (PHI) at NYG – THU 5:20 PM PT
Alshon Jeffery hits the road to face off against Janoris Jenkins in Week 6. While the Giants defense has not been a formidable opponent thus far, Jenkins has been able to lock down opposing WR1s with great success. Here are some notable matchups he’s won.
- DeAndre Hopkins (Week 3) – 6/86/0
- Michael Thomas (Week 4) – 4/47/0
- Devin Funchess (Week 5) – 4/53/0
The Giants defense has schemed very hard to take out opposing WR1s. They double-teamed Michael Thomas excessively in Week 4 and forced Drew Brees to test his luck elsewhere. In Week 3, Hopkins wasn’t nearly as dominant, as the Giants found a way to limit his mobility. As a result, Watson looked towards Will Fuller and Lamar Miller several times more than Hopkins. In analyzing the Eagles target distribution, it makes sense that the Giants would continue to use this strategy Thursday night. As Jeffery is the Eagles only elite wideout, Carson Wentz will likely find himself utilizing other options.
Robert Woods (LAR) at DEN – SUN 1:05 PM PT
The Rams target share has been very predictable. It consists of only four true recipients: Woods, Kupp, Cooks, and Gurley.
- Robert Woods – 41 targets
- Cooper Kupp – 41 targets
- Brandin Cooks – 33 targets
- Todd Gurley – 25 targets
This week, Woods should be in line for an extended stretch of targets as both Cooper Kupp and Brandin Cooks went down with concussions last week. There is some uncertainty as to whether or not either will be back this week, but regardless of their conditions, Woods still bodes to see his usual 7-10 targets. In a matchup against a struggling Broncos secondary, Woods should have high-quality opportunities. If either Kupp and Cooks sits, Woods would be the beneficiary of double-digit targets.
Josh Gordon (NE) vs. KC – SUN 5:20 PM PT
Gordon was quick to work, breaking off a 34-yard touchdown catch against the Colts last week. It’s safe to assume that Gordon still needs time to grasp the Patriots playbook and system of play calls, as he only saw 26% of snaps, but it’s hard to see Gordon not being a factor against the Chiefs. This week marks a season high, as the Chiefs-Patriots game was posted as a 59.5 point total. In projecting Tom Brady’s production, we could argue that he’ll throw the ball around 40-50 times. It would be logical to then project Gordon for at least 5 targets, but potentially 6-10. He showed signs of encouragement, seeing 4 targets in Week 5. This week could be the start of something new, as Gordon begins to cement his role in the Patriots target share.
Mohamed Sanu (ATL) vs. TB – SUN 10:00 AM PT
A repeat from last week, Mohamed Sanu is starting to become a consistent fantasy asset. With the Falcons riddled by injuries, and playing such terrible defense, Matt Ryan has been forced to air it out week after week. Sanu has seen a steady total of 7, 9, and 7 targets in each of his last three games. This week’s matchup couldn’t get any better. Facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have allowed 358 passing yards per game to opposing receivers, Sanu looks to continue his forward motion as the Falcons tee off in the second highest total of the week at 57.5 points.
