The Houston Texans do not plan on placing the franchise tag on impending free agent wide receiver Will Fuller V, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.
Fantasy Impact: Wilson stated in his article that the Texans would like to re-sign Fuller but that he’s expected to leave via free agency. The game-breaking wide receiver missed the final five game’s of the 2020 season while serving a PED suspension and still has one game left to serve at the start of next year. He hasn’t been the model of health over his career and the PED issue presents another obstacle so he’s likely to command an AAV way less than the franchise tag at his position, which is $16.54 million. The Texans are a mess right now with franchise QB Deshaun Watson demanding a trade and longtime defensive standout J.J Watt requesting his release last month. It makes sense that Fuller would want to try his hand elsewhere but what the length and value of his next contract will be is anyone’s guess.
