Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler with ESPN are reporting that the Bears plan to move on from Mitchell Trubisky this offseason and will look to address their quarterback situation through a trade or free agency.
Fantasy Impact: The Bears selected Trubisky with the second overall pick in 2017 and he’s gone 29-21 as a starter with an additional 0-2 playoff record. Famously selected ahead of Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes II, Trubisky has failed to live up to his draft stock. The Bears declined to pick up his fifth-year rookie option last offseason and it was reported that his future in Chicago was contingent on a 2020 playoff run. Considering their first-round loss to the Saints, this doesn’t come as a huge shock. Trubisky showed some flashes as a playmaker with an innate ability to throw on the run, but his struggles to read defenses and a knack for missing routine throws caused a lot of frustration in Chicago. The Bears will have multiple avenues to choose in their pursuit for a new quarterback through the draft, free agency, or a trade.
