Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow will not play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the team’s first preseason game on Saturday, per Bengals’ head coach Zac Taylor.
Fantasy Impact: Burrow is coming off of a torn ACL that he suffered against Washington in Week 11, so Taylor’s decision to roll with the backup quarterbacks makes complete sense. Reports out of training camp have fluctuated between Burrow looking bad and conversely, leading the first team on multiple scoring drives. The addition of Ja’Marr Chase with the fifth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft certainly helps Burrow’s confidence and adds another bonafide weapon in the wide receiving corps, providing quality targets for him in a pass-heavy offense. The offensive line also returns a healthy Jonah Williams at left tackle and signed Riley Reiff to right tackle in an effort to limit the pressure Burrow constantly faced during his rookie season. Brandon Allen, Kyle Shurmur, and Eric Dungey should all receive reps against the Bucs this upcoming Saturday.
