49ers rookie RB Trey Sermon rushed for 26 yards on nine carries and caught both of his targets for 14 yards in Saturday’s preseason defeat to Kansas City.
Fantasy Impact: Sermon received the nod as the starting tailback tonight, with Raheem Mostert out. While Sermon averaged merely 2.9 yards per carry and nearly coughed up a fumble, he is expected to carve out a significant role in his rookie year, especially with Jeff Wilson expected to be sidelined for a while after undergoing meniscus surgery. Sermon will look to be more efficient running the ball next week when the 49ers take on the Chargers.
