Patriots rookie QB Mac Jones completed 24-of-38 passes for 232 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in New England’s Wild Card defeat to Buffalo. He added two carries for 18 yards.
Fantasy Impact: Jones had his work cut out for him in his playoff debut, with Josh Allen engineering a perfect offensive game for the Bills, going 7-for-7 on touchdown drives. The Patriots fell behind early and never made it close, putting Jones in a difficult situation from start to finish. While he threw a pair of picks, each of them wasn’t particularly a bad throw, as the first was simply an impressive catch by safety Micah Hyde and the second was tipped up in the air. Jones finished his rookie season with 3801 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. He generally didn’t throw the ball downfield nor produce any explosive performances throughout the year, but he was consistently serviceable and rarely registered any poor performances. On top of that, his receiving corps was one of the weaker ones in the league, though the run game was effective all season long. Jones should remain a solid QB2 next year.
