FanDuel Dollar Menu – Week 15 Value Picks
QB: Gardner Minshew II ($6,900 JAC @ OAK)
Gardner Minshew had a less than ideal return to his starting role against the Chargers in Week 14. He ultimately finished with a somewhat respectable 13.58 FanDuel points but it was an incredibly ugly game for the entire Jaguars offense.
Luckily for him, he now visits a Raiders team that has been atrocious in recent weeks. Most recently the Raiders allowed Ryan Tannehill to throw for 391 yards and three touchdowns. Though he may be without the services of DJ Chark, Minshew and the Jaguars offense should find much more success, as the Raiders are allowing 21.7 points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season.
Minshew is priced as the 26th quarterback in the Sunday main slate, making him an incredible value this week.
Additional Value Pick: Ryan Fitzpatrick ($7,300 MIA @ NYG) is averaging 22.72 FanDuel points in his last three starts and the defenses in those three games were ranked 16th or better. The Giants’ defense that he will see this Sunday is ranked 27th and has struggled throughout the year to stop opposing pass offenses. This game features two bad teams with a combined five wins on the season but I think it will produce some big fantasy scorers on Sunday.
RB: Patrick Laird ($5,500, MIA @ NYG)
Patrick Laird has not been incredibly impressive as the lead back of the Dolphins but he has pieced together two solid fantasy performances against good run defenses. The rookie running back has shown his ability to be productive on the ground as well as through the air, catching four passes in each of the games. Laird received 19 touches last week against the Jets and I fully expect him to approach that number again this week.
The Giants’ inferior defense is allowing 21.38 FanDuel points per game to opposing running backs, meaning Laird could produce big numbers while sporting an incredibly small price.
RB: Ronald Jones II ($5,800, TB @ DET)
Ronald Jones gets a great matchup this week against the league’s 29th ranked defense in a game that might see the Bucs build a lead and not have to pass 40 to 50 times. Jones could also be the beneficiary of extra carries due to the thumb injury of Jameis Winston. The Winston injury could force them to lean much more on the running game this week, giving Jones extra opportunities to exploit the Lions subpar run defense.
Additional Value Pick: Chris Thompson ($5,200, PHI @ WAS) will now be back in his normal role as the pass-catching back for the Redskins and he may pick up additional touches since the season-ending injury to Derrius Guice. Thompson caught seven of eight targets against the Packers in Week 14 and will likely get a large target share again this week against the stout run defense of the Eagles.
WR: Dede Westbrook ($6,000, JAC @ OAK)
Dede Westbrook is likely going to be the Jaguars’ primary receiver on Sunday as DJ Chark is still not practicing after his ankle injury in Week 14. Westbrook has received seven or more targets and caught five or more passes in each of the last three weeks.
He is likely to be heavily targeted again against the Raiders, who were just roasted for 153 yards and two touchdowns by A.J. Brown last week. The Raiders secondary has struggled mightily recently and Westbrook is an incredible deal at $6,000 this week.
WR: A.J. Brown ($6,200, HOU @ TEN)
A.J. Brown went off in Week 14 for 31.1 FanDuel points and he now faces the league’s 27th ranked pass defense this week. The Texans allow 265 yards per game to pass catchers, setting up the potential for Brown to have another big game. Brown is the clear number one passing option for the Titans and he will be relied upon to keep the defense honest as they focus most of their effort on stopping Derrick Henry and the Titans run game.
Additional Value Pick: Darius Slayton ($6,300, MIA @ NYG) was clearly the favorite target of Eli Manning against the Eagles on Monday night. The rookie caught five passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns and eclipsed 29 FanDuel points for the second time this season. The Giants now host the 30th ranked defense of the Dolphins, giving Slayton a great opportunity to produce another big game.
TE: Dallas Goedert ($5,700, PHI @ WAS)
Due to injuries, the Eagles were down to two wide receivers on Monday night against the Giants. Alshon Jeffery has been placed on IR, likely causing the target share for Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz to go through the roof against the Redskins in Week 15 and beyond.
The Redskins have allowed the 24th most FanDuel points to tight ends this season, making this a solid matchup for Goedert to produce good numbers for his investors.
Additional Value Pick: (Ian Thomas $5,300 or Greg Olsen $4,900 SEA @ CAR) Ian Thomas caught five of 10 targets for 57 yards and a touchdown while filling in for Greg Olsen in Week 14. The Seahawks are allowing the second-most FanDuel points to tight ends this season and have the 29th ranked pass defense overall. If Olsen is able to return this week he is a solid play for a great price. If he can’t return, Thomas is a very good option.
DEF: Buccaneers ($3,800 @ DET)
The Buccaneers are averaging 13.6 FanDuel points per game over their last three. They now face the Lions and David Blough a rookie quarterback making his third career start. Blough has thrown three interceptions in his first two starts and will now be without the services of an injured Marvin Jones. The Bucs are priced low this week at $3,800, which is 14th in the Sunday main slate. I have the Bucs as a top 10 defense this week and a great value play.
Additional Value Pick: Chiefs ($3,900 vs DEN) Just like the Bucs, the Chiefs are also averaging 13.6 FanDuel points per game over their last three and now face a rookie quarterback making his third career start. I have the Chiefs as a borderline top 10 defense this week as well, making them a solid start at $3,900.
