We’ve finally arrived at the coveted fantasy football championship. If you’re reading this you probably made it to the championship game so congratulations to you! Hopefully, your team doesn’t have too many holes to fill for your championship battle, but if you do we will see who might be available on the waivers. Luckily there are a few decent options available this week.
We did see a few injuries we should monitor or be aware of. Most of the major ones were to the running back position with Raheem Mostert, Cam Akers, James Robinson, and Clyde Edwards Helaire.
As always though I am here to try to identify some of the more popular waiver wire additions, some deeper league options, and some to keep an eye on up until your waivers run. Now every league may be a little different, but I will be looking at players who are on 50% or less of teams across Yahoo and ESPN platforms. I will also include some players who might be above 50% but are worth the look to see if they’re available in your league.
Week 16 Waiver Wire: Possibly taken, but worth a look
Corey Davis (WR, TEN)
Davis came back to life in Week 15 with 4 receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown. Davis still sits on just about 80% of rosters on Yahoo and 72% on ESPN. The Titans face the Packers, which has been a tough matchup on wide receivers at times. Jaire Alexander has been a strong corner, but should be focused on A.J. Brown which should free up Davis a bit.
Logan Thomas (TE, WAS)
Thomas saw 15 targets, catching 13 of them for 101 yards on Sunday. He sits just over the 50% threshold on ESPN and is closer to 62% on Yahoo. The Football Team faces off against Carolina in Week 16 who is 8th in points given up to the tight end. He’s got a strong matchup and has gotten the targets (31 in the last three weeks) to possibly help someone win a championship.
Darrell Henderson (RB, LAR)
With Akers missing Week 16, Henderson should come back to fantasy relevance. Malcolm Brown will likely be involved as well.
Le’Veon Bell (RB, KC)
With CEH going down and looking like he will miss time, Bell looks to see more work. The Chiefs running back hasn’t been as valuable as many hoped, but if your needing a running back you can probably utilize Bell as an RB2 or Flex this week.
Week 16 Waiver Wire: On less than 50% of teams
Jalen Hurts (QB, PHI)
Hurts looked great again on Sunday as he threw for 338 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also added on 63 rushing yards on 11 attempts and a rushing touchdown. Hurts will face off against Dallas and can be fired up again.
Baker Mayfield (QB, CLE)
Mayfield had another good game on Sunday with 297 passing yards and two touchdowns. The Browns face off against the Jets in Week 16 who are 2nd in points given up to the quarterback position. He’s another good streaming option this week.
Tony Pollard (RB, DAL)
Pollard had quite the day in relief for Ezekiel Elliott. Pollard rushed 12 times for 69 yards and a touchdown, but also caught 6 of 9 targets for 63 yards. The Cowboys get Philadelphia in Week 16 who have been tough against the run. Should Elliott miss time next week, Pollard can be plugged into a starting lineups.
Salven Ahmed (RB, MIA)
Ahmed returned to playing time with 23 rushing attempts for 122 yards and caught 1 of 3 targets. We will want to keep an eye on Myles Gaskin. If Gaskin misses time Ahmed gets a good matchup against the Raiders who are giving up the 5th most points to running backs.
Lynn Bowden Jr. (RB/WR, MIA)
Bowden continues to be involved in the Dolphins game plan after touching the ball 7 times (1 rushing attempt for 9 yards and 6 receptions for 37 yards). The Dolphins face off against the Raiders and if Miami continues to not have all of it’s weapons back from injury Bowden looks to stay involved. He probably brings a safe floor in PPR formats.
Russell Gage (WR, ATL)
With Julio sidelined, Gage had a decent Week 15 outing with 5 receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown (on 10 targets). He’s now had at least 15 PPR points in the last three games. Atlanta also gets Kansas City in Week 16 and will need to throw the ball. If Julio remains out Gage will be more valuable, but he’s still worth a pickup.
Austin Hooper (TE, CLE)
Tyler Higbee was listed in this article last week simply because he was going up against the Jets (and it paid off). Hooper and the Browns now get to face the Jets who are giving up the most points to the tight end position this year. Hooper was also involved last week as he caught 5 receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown. He’s definitely a streaming option if you need one (and good for you in making it to the championships while streaming tight ends).
