We are coming up quickly to the end of the 2019 fantasy football season as many have their championships in Week 16 (or Week 17 for others). Either way congratulations to you, as if you’re reading this you probably are still alive and in the hunt. Hopefully, your team has weathered some of the storms and you’re team remains mostly healthy. However, there still are some options on the waiver wire if you’re in need of a little help.
As always, we want to continue to pay attention to injuries as more news comes out for some players. Most of the players listed below are the ones who are most likely available on your waiver wire in your league and I’ve found a few players at each position you may be able to pick up. Every player listed is owned in less than 50 percent of leagues (Yahoo and ESPN formats) with a few who might have a little more ownership, but possibly available.
Week 16 Waiver Wire: Possibly owned, but worth a look
Ryan Tannehill (QB, TEN)
Tannehill continues to be a productive fantasy asset and threw for 279 yards and 2 touchdowns, but also added a rushing touchdown and 10 yards rushing His ownership has continued to creep upwards, but he’s still only owned in 68% of leagues on Yahoo and 63% on ESPN. He gets New Orleans in week 16 who is the 9th best matchup for quarterbacks.
A.J. Brown (WR, TEN)
Brown topped 100 yards again (113 yards) on 8 receptions in week 15. He had a whopping 13 targets and gets a New Orleans defense in Week 16 whose given up points to the wide receiver position. If he’s available, he’s definitely worth a pickup.
Tyler Higbee (TE, LAR)
Higbee topped 100 yards once again after catching 12 receptions for 112 yards. His ownership has continued to increase, but he’s worth a pickup if he’s available in your league.
Less than 50% ownership
Ryan Fitzpatrick (QB, MIA)
If you’re in need of another quarterback you could do worse than looking Fitzpatrick’s way. In Week 15 he threw for 279 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also added 33 rushing yards. He gets the Bengals in Week 16.
Alexander Mattison/Mike Boone (RB, MIN)
Hopefully, if you’re the Dalvin cook owner you’ve got your handcuff already, but if not it may be one of Mattison or Boone in week 16. It appears to be up in the air if Cook misses time, but Mattison/Boone could be a nice pivot come Monday night If he does. Best to keep an eye on Cook as well as Mattison’s statuses moving forward.
Patrick Laird (RB, MIA)
Laird continues to bring value simply due to his touches as he had 14 total touches in Week 15. He only managed 46 rushing yards and 8 receiving but continues to appear to be involved. The Dolphins gets the Bengals in week 16, which is the 7th best matchup for running backs.
Boston Scott (RB, PHI)
Scott has shown some flashes in the last two weeks. In week 15 he only had 6 rushing attempts for 26 yards but caught all 7 targets for 39 yards. More valuable in PPR leagues and if Jordan Howard continues to miss time, Scott looks to stay involved in the game plan alongside Miles Sanders.
Breshad Perriman (WR, TB)
Perriman exploded in week 15 with 3 receiving touchdowns on 113 yards (6 targets, 5 receptions). With Mike Evans out and Chris Godwin injuring his hamstring Perriman looks to be stepping into the number 1 role. He also gets a favorable matchup with Houston in week 16.
Anthony Miller (WR, CHI)
Miller had a strong week 15 and hauled in 9 receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown. He’s now had 9 or more targets in 4 of the last 5 games. Chicago gets the Chiefs in week 16, which they may have to throw the ball quite a bit to keep up.
O.J. Howard (TE, TB)
Howard caught 4 receptions for 48 yards in Week 15 but looks to be more active as Tampa Bay’s receivers continue to drop like flies. If you’ve made it this far streaming tight ends, Howard could be a decent pickup in Week 16 as they face off against the Texans.
