It’s almost playoff season everyone, so it’s time to examine the players we need to be stopping, dropping, and rolling with to help us make the cut.
Stop
Doug Martin RB (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – Its officially time to stop playing Doug Martin. Usually with volume we see production, but this just isn’t the case with Martin. Since returning in Week 5, Martin has yet to reach 100 yards, has only found the end zone twice and is averaging just about 3 Y.P.C. Now, of course, Martin isn’t the only one to blame, as the Buccaneers O-line seems to just let defenses walk in like a super model at a jam-packed nightclub. It’s time to place Martin on the bench until we can see this O-line get it together and give Martin more room to run.
Drop
Derek Carr QB (Oakland Raiders) – Carr has been a giant disappointment this season. With an offense filled with weapons upon weapons he has heavily underproduced. He only has 1 TD pass in 6 of the last 7 games while throwing 6 interceptions as well. His one good game came against the worst passing defense in Kansas City when he went for 417 yards and 3 TD’s. Carr also goes against Denver next week, which is not an ideal start. Drop Carr and move to the waiver wire.
Roll
Marcus Mariota QB (Tennessee Titans) – Yes, the same Mariota who just threw 4 INTs versus Pittsburgh. Mariota’s schedule the rest of the season is one of the best you can get. Mariota goes up against Indy, Houston, Arizona, and San Francisco, who are all bottom 10 defenses versus the pass. Mariota is getting healthy and starting to use his legs again, with 51 rushing yards versus Cincinnati and a rushing TD against the Bengals. Mariota looks primed to finish the season as a top 10 QB rest of the way. Getting back stud WR Corey Davis has opened things up for veterans Rishard Matthews and Delanie Walker. I expect big things from Mariota in the coming weeks.
Stream Options
With the waiver wire getting thinner and thinner as the year ends its time to start taking gambles and risks. Who better than Josh Gordon to take a risk on? The Browns lack any real playmaking ability outside of Duke Johnson Jr and second year WR Corey Coleman. Even with Gordon not playing in almost three years he is still the most dynamic players in the Browns offense. Stash him in Week 12 and see what he can do for you the rest of the season. Tyrod Taylor was one of the most dropped players in fantasy and should be available in more than 50% of leagues. While we don’t know his future with the Bills moving forward we shouldn’t see a benching the rest of the year. If anything, this lit a fire under Taylor to prove his worth. Consider this as a tryout for other teams and Taylor is going to look to produce with everything he has.
