Week 6 of the 2018 NFL season is in the books, and that means it’s time to look at waiver wire pickups. Most leagues’ waivers process on Wednesday, so this article will be posted every Tuesday. The percentages next to a player’s name explain what percentage of an FAAB budget should go toward that player in a 12-team PPR format.
Quarterbacks
Baker Mayfield (CLE, 0-1%)
Baker Mayfield has had his ups and downs so far this year, but he is now matched up against a Swiss cheese Tampa Bay secondary that has given up monster games to quarterbacks in back-to-back games. The Buccaneers have allowed at least 251 yards to opposing quarterbacks every week this season, so Mayfield is on the streaming radar for Week 7.

Running Backs
Ito Smith (ATL, 10-12%)
With Devonta Freeman on Injured Reserve, rookie running back Ito Smith will share work with Tevin Coleman for the next eight weeks. In the last two weeks that Freeman has not played, Smith has seen 43 percent and 46 percent of snaps, including the majority of the red zone work. In a potent offense like Atlanta’s, those red zone touches are valuable. Smith is a spot start flex moving forward.
Marlon Mack (IND, 8-10%)
Marlon Mack wasted no time banishing Jordan Wilkins to the shadow realm during his Week 6 return, as Wilkins played zero snaps while Mack rushed the ball 12 times for 89 yards. Nyheim Hines is entrenched as the pass-catching back, but Mack seems to have the between-the-tackles role locked up for Indianapolis.
Wide Receivers
Taylor Gabriel (CHI, 6-8%)
Taylor Gabriel has at least five targets in each of Chicago’s games this season and has a total of 34 targets through five games. With back-to-back 100-yard games under his belt, Gabriel’s role as Chicago’s big play threat provides him unmatched weekly upside.
Keke Coutee (HOU, 6-8%)
Keke Coutee’s raw target numbers have declined in each of the three weeks he has been healthy this season, but the rookie out of Texas Tech has still seen more targets than Will Fuller every week he has played. As the No. 2 option in the Houston passing game, Coutee has flex potential on a weekly basis.
Chris Godwin (TB, 4-6%)
Chris Godwin had nine targets in Jameis Winston’s first start of the season, hauling in six of them for 56 yards. If Winston keeps looking Godwin’s way like he did in Week 6, the second-year man out of Penn State could become fantasy-viable.
Tight Ends
Ricky Seals-Jones (ARI, 0-1%)
Ricky Seals-Jones has seen six targets in four of six games this season. That kind of volume would put him in TE1 range on most offenses in the league. Unfortunately, the Cardinals offense has been nothing short of anemic this year, but Seals-Jones’ volume warrants a prospective add for tight end-desperate teams.
