Believe it or not, the fantasy football regular season is half over for most leagues out there. With seven weeks down, make sure to keep on pushing. Week 8 gives us surprisingly zero teams on bye. While Weeks 7 and 13 have six teams on bye each. I’m not sure what the NFL is trying to pull here, but there must be some algorithm that I don’t understand.
As November approaches, that only means one thing, cold football is coming. Unfortunately, I won’t get an opportunity to sit on a cold metal seat at Lambeau Field this year, but I’m looking forward to it next year!

Week 7 Game Ball: Alvin Kamara – 12 catches, 153 total yards, and a 2-point conversion
His usage isn’t very helpful for the Saints’ offense to move the ball, but boy, is it great for fantasy. During this game, it seemed as soon as Derek Carr dropped back, he immediately looked for Kamara 2 yards down the field. While he isn’t as fast or shifty as he used to be, he can still certainly get it done for fantasy managers. Even with drafting Kendre Miller and signing Jamaal Williams, it appears Kamara’s workhorse role is quite safe.
TNF fantasy football preview: Week 8 starts
Week 8 TNF: Elite Starts
These are my locked-in starts that you never need to think twice about. Just put them in and watch the magic happen.
Josh Allen – Even in a loss, Allen had a nice bounce-back game last week against the Patriots. There are clearly some things that need to be tweaked for the Bills to get back on track as a team, but for Allen, he should be just fine. His running ability can help him turn most dicey situations into a positive one. Look for Allen to stay on track in this one.
Projection: 290 passing yards, 22 rushing yards, and 3 total touchdowns
Stefon Diggs – Diggs is a man of the fantasy community. He publicly apologized for his 6-58-1 line on Sunday. When it comes down to it, this is a solid line, but Diggs gets it and knows he can do better for us. He’s currently second in the league in targets and has yet to score in the single-digit range for fantasy. I don’t see any reason why he won’t be reaching the 100-yard mark and endzone on Thursday. ONE OF US!!!
Projection: 10 catches for 115 receiving yards and 1 touchdown
Week 8 TNF: Solid Starts
These are the starts you shouldn’t be nervous about but certainly aren’t locked in for top-tier production.
Mike Evans/Chris Godwin – On a team that had plenty of question marks going into the season, the two things they could rely on were Evans and Godwin. With a combined 15 years of NFL experience heading into the season, these two are the glue that needs to keep this offense together. So far this year Evans has delivered on that front with his 78 yards per game and four touchdowns. Godwin has yet to find the endzone this season, but this may be the week it happens. Tampa Bay will be on the road and should be playing from behind most of the game, causing a pass-heavy game script.
Projection: Evans – 6 catches for 85 receiving yards and 1 touchdown
Godwin – 6 catches for 70 receiving yards and 1 touchdown
James Cook – Cook gave fantasy managers a very well-rounded game last week against the Patriots. It was nice to see after he delivered games under 10 fantasy points the last two weeks. He led the way this week in the Buffalo backfield, registering 54% of the Bills run plays. He goes up against a Tampa defense that has only given up three rushing touchdowns on the year. While I don’t expect Cook to find the endzone, he should have a solid game.
Projection: 3 catches for 95 all-purpose yards
Week 8 TNF: Flex Worthy Starts
They are worth a start, but no one is going to blame you if you want to bench them.
Dalton Kincaid – With Dawson Knox scheduled to get surgery on his wrist, the door is wide open for Kincaid. He’s been held in check for most of the season but finally showed up with 8 catches for 75 yards this past week. I can’t imagine the Bills will want to continue to hide their new shiny toy. This is the same tight end who scored 16 touchdowns in his final two college seasons at Utah. I would love to see him get his first one as a pro this week.
Projection: 5 catches for 63 receiving yards and 1 touchdown
Rachaad White – It’s been tough to gauge White’s fantasy value this year. He has been far from consistent, but his role in the passing game is not one to ignore. Chase Edmonds may return from IR this week, so we’ll see how much work he gets in his first week back. His 3.2 yards per carry and 1 touchdown this year doesn’t exactly scream reliable. I see White getting plenty of work this week, but nothing that’s going to make you feel confident going into the Sunday games.
Projection: 3 catches for 60 all-purpose yards
Gabe Davis – It’s been a rough two weeks for Davis. His combined 4 catches for 27 yards is very uninspiring for fantasy managers. Unfortunately for him, first-round draft pick, Dalton Kincaid, had quite the break game in week 7. This Tampa Bay defense has only given up 6 passing touchdowns on the year and will be eager to keep this going in primetime against the Bills. He shouldn’t be as bad as the last two weeks, but make sure to keep your expectations tempered for Davis this Thursday.
Projection: 4 catches for 45 receiving yards
Week 8 TNF: Break Glass in Case of Emergency Starts
Starts that will have questionable usage, and you are just hoping you can sneak a touchdown out of them. Pick your poison.
- Khalil Shakir
- Cade Otton
- Baker Mayfield
- Latavius Murray
