Joey Logano has not made many friends on the track in his NASCAR Cup Series career—remember his relationship with Matt Kenseth? Sunday saw the Number 22 get his first win of the season, but it was not without drama.
After leading for 107 laps, William Byron took over and was poised to win yet another race. Until Joey decided it wasn’t gonna happen. A little bump in the back, and Logano passes the finish line first while Byron finishes 13th. A few choice words from each driver about the other hung in the air after the race, and now there’s no telling if retribution is soon to occur. Payback is a…well…you know.
Let’s just hope it doesn’t happen this week because both drivers are hot at Kansas, and one is on my list of the brilliant, bold, and bonkers NASCAR fantasy picks for the AdventHealth 400.
Brilliant – These expert fantasy picks for NASCAR have the best shot at a win this weekend
Martin Truex Jr.
Yes, I know, Martin Truex Jr. has been here before; and before; and before. But he’s the king of the intermediate track, and he’s finished with single digits in nine of the last 10 races here. Don’t leave him out of your NASCAR fantasy lineup on Sunday.
Kansas Wins: 2
Top 5 finishes: 9
Top 10 finishes: 14
Chase Elliott
Chase Elliott is one of the best drivers at this track, and he has plenty of top-five finishes and stage points to prove it. He’s on a hot streak right now, so I’d say he’s a solid bet for Kansas.
Kansas Wins: 1
Top 5 finishes: 6
Top 10 finishes: 8
Kevin Harvick
The Number 4 is warming up at a good time—and Kansas is one of his better tracks. Plenty of stage points, 949 laps led, and an average finish of 9th place gives me enough confidence that Kevin Harvik will have a good day here, one way or another.
Kansas Wins: 3
Top 5 finishes: 12
Top 10 finishes: 19
Bold – Here’s my NASCAR fantasy advice on this week’s sleeper picks
Christopher Bell
Five top-10 finishes in the last seven races says warm-streak to my ears. I have a feeling that Christopher Bell is finally breaking out and showing us what he’s got under the hood of the 20 car. That makes him my NASCAR fantasy sleeper pick of the week at Kansas.
Kansas Wins: 0
Top 5 finishes: 0
Top 10 finishes: 2
Erik Jones
Once again, Erik Jones has a sweet opportunity to make something happen at a track he’s well acquainted with. So, maybe the last few trips here have been a bust, but the last time Jones ran with a really good team, he was great here. Don’t count him out when you set up your NASCAR fantasy team this week.
Kansas Wins: 0
Top 5 finishes: 3
Top 10 finishes: 5
William Byron
Let’s hope that payback doesn’t come for the No. 24 this week because he has a really good chance to finish well, whether it’s a win or a top 10. It’s been top-10s for the No. 24 the last five times he’s been here, and I expect nothing less this week, as long as he keeps his cool and doesn’t tangle with the 22.
Kansas Wins: 0
Top 5 finishes: 1
Top 10 finishes: 5
Bonkers – Stay away from these drivers in your NASCAR fantasy racing lineup this week
Ty Dillon
Ty has seen a few good laps this season and he already has one top-10 finish, which is more than he had in the entire last season. But since his average finish here is 28th, I don’t imagine he’ll turn things around too far at Kansas this week.
Kansas Wins: 0
Top 5 finishes: 0
Top 10 finishes: 0
Austin Cindric
A Daytona 500 win and then Austin Cindric has been quietly running a bit behind. His talent is obvious—give this young gun time to bloom and you’ll see good things. But leave him out of your NASCAR fantasy lineup this week.
Kansas Wins: 0
Top 5 finishes: 0
Top 10 finishes: 0
Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
18 trips to Kansas, three DNFs, and not much more to show for it. This isn’t the best track for Stenhouse Jr., so give him a pass until he hits a track better suited for his skill set.
Kansas Wins: 0
Top 5 finishes: 0
Top 10 finishes: 0
