The San Francisco 49ers have selected G Aaron Banks with the No. 48 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Fantasy Impact: Described by several scouts as a “bully” and built to dominate the trenches, Notre Dame G Aaron Banks will plug the interior of San Francisco’s offensive line to help protect No. 3 overall pick QB Trey Lance. Trent Williams and Mike McGlinchey have the tackle positions secured but the interior was lacking outside of C Alex Mack during an injury-filled 2020 season in the Bay Area. Banks is elite in both run-blocking and in pass protection, using his hulking 6’6″ 330-pound frame to open running lanes and seal up blitzes and bullrushes in obvious passing situations. Overall, this is a fantastic selection for 49ers’ head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch.
