Austin Ekeler carried the ball 14 times for 36 yards and caught four passes for 36 yards in Sunday’s win against the Raiders.
Fantasy Impact: Ekeler, who entered his sixth season with a 4.6 rushing yards per attempt average, managed just 2.6 yards per carry in the season opener. An improved Raiders’ defense was a factor, but Ekeler should see that average go up in the coming weeks. The veteran RB provides a safe floor with his pass-catching ability, so even if his rushing numbers don’t jump off the page, he still provides fantasy managers with solid production through the air. Ekeler will have a chance to rack up more yards on a short week when the Chargers travel to Kansas City for a Thursday night showdown.
