Jake Trotter of ESPN reports that the Browns have exercised the fifth-year option of QB Baker Mayfield.
Fantasy Impact: Trotter went on to say that the move will extend Mayfield’s contract through 2022. Mayfield had a bounce-back season in 2020 under new OC Kevin Stefanski. He threw for 26 touchdowns and only eight interceptions after throwing 21 of them in 2019. The play-action really helped Mayfield operate and open up things for him. He showed enough last season to gain the Browns trust in him and he was rewarded by getting his contract exercised for a fifth-year option. While he isn’t a top tier QB, he can be a solid QB2 and streamer for fantasy drafts in 2021.
