According to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network, Pro Bowl edge rusher Brian Burns is missing his second consecutive practice for the Carolina Panthers on Monday amid a potential contract dispute. Burns’ contract expires after the 2023 season.
Fantasy Impact: Head coach Frank Reich declined to say specifically if Burns’ absence was tied to contract issues, but he did say he understands the “business element to this thing.” Reich said he’s not involved in the contract negotiations and that he’ll defer to Burns on the reasoning behind his absence. As well, Reich said he hopes Burns is available for the Week 1 matchup with Atlanta, but if he’s not there, he will “move forward.” It’s unclear if Burns will be present for the season opener.
