Brian Robinson Jr. was given the day off in the Commandeers’ preseason loss to Baltimore, as most of the players with locked-in roster spots did as well.
Fantasy Impact: Robinson being among the sit-outs speaks volumes to what the Commanders feel his role could be in 2022. It is an undoubtedly crowded backfield in at best an average offense, but Robinson has a chance to be the lead back in 2022. If Robinson continues to rise while Antonio Gibson continues to fall, there could be some undeniable value in coming away from fantasy drafts with the rookie from Alabama. The best thing for Robinson’s fantasy stock would be if he is able to earn the goalline runs for the Commanders. J.D. McKissic will certainly be the third-down back for Washington, but Robinson has a chance to pace the teams in carries and TDs in 2022. Draft Robinson as a bench piece with major upside, with an obvious boost in dynasty or keeper formats.
