According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports, the sentiment coming out of the San Francisco 49ers’ front office is that QB Brock Purdy is expected to be the starter at the beginning of the season.
Fantasy Impact: Purdy has already resumed throwing as he recovers from his shoulder injury that may cost him his entire offseason. However, the exact timeline for Purdy’s return isn’t well known. Despite this, general manager John Lynch said outright that Purdy is probably “the leader in the clubhouse” on SiriusXM NFL Radio. QB Trey Lance has reportedly been operating the 1s in camp with Purdy out, but if Purdy is cleared to start the year, he could be back in the driver’s seat despite the “open competition” to which Lynch alluded.
