Coach Jon Gruden said Bryan Edwards looks like Terrell Owens in training camp, while beat writer Levi Edwards has said Edwards is looking more like Randy Moss, catching passes with corners all over him.
Fantasy Impact: Edwards has that prototypical size teams are looking for in their No. 1 receivers. The former Gamecock is 6’3 and 212 pounds. He came into the NFL last year with a 94th-percentile college dominator rating and a 100th-percentile breakout age. He spent most of his rookie season trying to get over a foot injury that occurred in the lead-up to the NFL Draft. Fantasy managers shouldn’t be forgetting about him though. He’s currently being drafted as the WR90, but he has a pathway to consistent use behind Darren Waller. Henry Ruggs, due to his stature is unlikely to ever become a target hog, but Edwards is not hindered by the same constraints. As a late-round dart throw, fantasy managers would be wise to invest in a player that has a fairly easy pathway to 100+ targets in 2021. The former third-round pick is someone fantasy managers in dynasty leagues should be looking to acquire on the cheap. He’s still young, has a great draft pedigree and has an easy pathway to a starting role. It shouldn’t be surprising to see Edwards finish as a WR4 this season and be someone fantasy managers are able to use as a bye-week fill-in and there’s upside for more yet too. There’s plenty for fantasy managers to like in the second-year player whose current draft pick comes with virtually no risk.
