According to Connor Hughes of The Athletic, time may be running out for Jets tight end Chris Herndon to have a breakout season. The 25-year-old has reportedly struggled to pick up the new coaching regime’s playbook this offseason. Further, fellow tight ends Tyler Kroft and Ryan Griffin “stole a chunk of Herndon’s first-team reps at minicamp.”
Fantasy Impact: Neither of these factors bode well for Herndon, who has shown promise as a pass-catcher but struggled to truly take the next step. Losing playing time to Griffin, who was on the roster last season, and Kroft, who inked a deal with the Jets this offseason after spending 2020 with the Bills, means his role atop the depth chart may slip away. Herndon ranks 30th among tight ends in the latest expert consensus draft rankings.
