According to Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com, the Kansas City Chiefs are not picking up RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s fifth-year option.
Fantasy Impact: Despite having the cheapest fifth-year option of all of the 2020 NFL Draft class, around $5.5 million, the Chiefs aren’t taking it. Edwards-Helaire has seen his playing time dwindle, losing his spot in the rotation to RBs Jerick McKinnon and Isiah Pacheco. Edwards-Helaire’s size and injury history likely played a part in dissuading the team from extending his deal, and he is set to become a free agent entering the 2024 season.
