The Atlanta Falcons placed LB Deion Jones on the physically unable to perform list to begin training camp.
Fantasy Impact: Most of the offseason talk surrounding Deion Jones had to do with him being a trade or cut candidate, but nothing yet has come to fruition. Jones underwent shoulder surgery at the conclusion of the 2021 season and was forced to miss the team’s OTAs and minicamp, and is now set to miss time in training camp as well. The seventh-year LB’s health will be worth monitoring, as the team could look to ramp up trade discussions once he’s at the point where he could pass a physical. The Falcons added free agents Rashaan Evans and Nick Kwiatkoski, along with rookie Troy Andersen to the LB room in the offseason, lessening the potential blow of a Deion Jones departure if the team were to go that route. Jones remaining with the team in 2022 is not out of the realm of possibilities. His presence on the field makes them a better defensive unit, so Atlanta will have to make the decision on if they think his talent is worth the $20M cap hit.
