New York Jets offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur said WR Denzel Mims “needs to play better inside.”
Fantasy Impact: According to LaFleur, Mims needs to play better inside. He has to become more viable in the short and intermediate passing game. The Baylor product was seen working with the second team during minicamp. “He (Mims) plays big on the outside.” He’s got the length and the radius,” LaFleur said. “We’re gonna get him playing better inside the numbers during minicamp.” Mims will compete with Corey Davis, Jamison Crowder, and Keelan Cole for targets in the Jets passing game. The former 2020 second-round pick was limited to nine games last season due to hamstring issues and a concussion. Mims hauled in 23 receptions on 44 targets for 357 yards and no touchdowns in 2020. The 23-year-old has WR5 fantasy upside and is currently 68th among all wideouts in the latest expert consensus draft rankings.
