Derek Carr has restructured his contract with the New Orleans Saints as they look for ways to get under the salary cap. The move is expected to save the team $23 million.
Fantasy Impact: The Saints are among the top teams in terms of being over the salary cap. Thankfully, Carr taking a large chunk of his money as a signing bonus gives them more room to work. As for his fantasy value, Carr is all but locked in as their starter for the next several years, since releasing him would be a massive dead cap hit and it’s unlikely he will be traded with the size of contract he has. He’ll likely be a QB2 like he has been for his entire career, steady enough to start in 2QB and stream in 1QB formats, but not worth rostering in single QB formats unless it is a deep league.
