New Orleans head coach Dennis Allen said that QB Derek Carr and the other starters will play in Sunday’s preseason opener against the Chiefs, according to Luke Johnson of nola.com.
Fantasy Impact: The Saints don’t have a ton of new pieces on offense or a new head coach, but their most important position was a key offseason addition for the franchise. As a result, it’s important for Carr and the other starters for New Orleans to get some live-game action to build chemistry ahead of the 2023 season. Carr had 3,522 yards in 15 games last season, his lowest yards-per-game total in a year since 2017. In a new system replacing last year’s mix of Jameis Winston and Andy Dalton, Carr is going on average as the QB23, though he has not finished outside of the top 20 fantasy QBs in a season in his entire career.
