According to PFF’s Ari Meirov, S Derwin James reported to training camp with the Los Angeles Chargers but is not practicing as he awaits a new contract with the team.
Fantasy Impact: James has dealt with injuries so far in his career, but when he plays, he is one of the league’s best defensive backs. James has two Pro-Bowl nods and one All-Pro nod since being drafted No. 17 in 2018, but between 2019 and 2020 he only played in five games. According to Meirov, both sides have been working on a deal and James will return to action when it is finalized. Meirov says the expectation is that James becomes the highest-paid safety in NFL history. The Chargers DST is currently going on average as the DST14, hoping to improve during head coach Brandon Staley’s second season with the team.
