Joe Person of the Athletic is reporting that the Panthers are “locked on” trading for superstar QB Deshaun Watson.
Fantasy Impact: Watson met with the Texans in February and reportedly reiterated his desire to be traded. The Panthers are rumored to make a strong push to acquire Watson front the Texans. “An executive with a team that has been monitoring the quarterback market said Tuesday the Panthers “are locked” on Watson,” per Person. “Panthers owner David Tepper has made no secret of his desire to upgrade at the quarterback position. And Watson looks to be Plan A, B and C. So expect the Panthers to put together a big package for Watson, with three first-round picks the likely starting point. They won’t be bidding against themselves.” Watson reportedly insists that he wants to be traded and may leave the Texans no choice. The 25-year-old QB threw for 4,833 yards and a 33:7 TD:INT ratio across 16 games in 2020. Watson is a surefire QB1 and currently fifth among all quarterbacks in the latest expert consensus draft rankings. Stay tuned.
