Falcons rookie QB Desmond Ridder completed 10-of-22 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns in Atlanta’s preseason opener versus Detroit. He added a game-high 59 rushing yards on six carries.
Fantasy Impact: While the Falcons opened with veteran Marcus Mariota, it was rookie Desmond Ridder who did most of the damage and led the team to a late victory over the Lions. He was the game’s leading rusher by a long shot, as he averaged 9.8 yards per attempt. The icing on the cake was the game-winning touchdown with just over 90 seconds left in the game, where he connected with WR Jared Bernhardt for 21 yards on a fourth-down play. Ridder’s chances of earning the starting job will undoubtedly keep getting better if he can continue playing at a high level the rest of preseason.
