DJ Chark appears more confident in himself and spent the offseason transforming his body, per Jaguars strength coach, Anthony Schlegel.
Fantasy Impact: After a depressing 2020 season, Chark looks focused to make sure that doesn’t repeat itself. He played last year at 197 pounds and is now listed at 210. He added 8.6 pounds of muscle and managed to cut his body fat by 0.1 percent. It’s that time of year where fantasy managers hear about this player and that player being in the best shape of his life, but Chark looks to be more focused this season. He was challenged by coach Urban Meyer to get stronger and play bigger and the fourth-year pro has accepted that challenge. That’s something fantasy managers should be excited about. The former Tiger is in a contract year, which only adds to that extra motivation. Fantasy managers are quick to forget his 2019 season when he finished as the WR17 despite missing one game. He caught 73 passes for 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns. He had to catch passes from multiple quarterbacks last season, none of which impressed. On top of that, he struggled with injuries as well. He’s back and he’s healthy now. At 6’4 and 210 pounds with impressive downfield speed, Chark should emerge as a favorite of rookie quarterback, Trevor Lawrence. The former Heisman winner will be the best quarterback Chark has ever played with by a country mile. Currently being selected as the WR33, fantasy managers should be excited to draft the Jaguars’ likely No. 1 receiver at such a low price. While many are high on Laviska Shenault, there will be enough volume in this passing offense to support multiple pass-catchers. The defense is once again expected to be lackluster, which will force Lawrence and the rest of the Jaguars’ offense to keep pace. Chark has the most upside of any Jaguar receiver due to his deep-ball prowess and high touchdown upside.
