The Detroit Lions have selected RB Jermar Jefferson with the No. 257 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Fantasy Impact: The junior running back out of Oregon State earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors in 2020, ranking fourth in the FBS with 133 carries for 858 yards and seven touchdowns in just six starts. Jefferson is a bruising back that can use his 206-pound frame to punish defenders, including a propensity to get stronger as the game goes on. This selection muddies up Detroit’s backfield behind De’Andre Swift, as Jamaal Williams and Kerryon Johnson also will compete for touches in 2021. Expect Jefferson to be a goal-line back, as well as assigned to pick up blitzes in order to protect QB Jared Goff in the pocket.
