According to Tashan Reed of The Athletic, Josh Jacobs returned to practice for Day 2 of full-team practices for the Las Vegas Raiders. Jacobs missed part of OTAs with an undisclosed issue.
Fantasy Impact: Jacobs enters one of the most important years of his young career. Not only did the Raiders decline his fifth-year option, making 2022 his contract year, but he enters the season on a potent offense with a new coaching staff. The new head coach for the Raiders, former Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, was known for leading offenses that left fantasy managers frustrated with the running backs. It is left to be seen how McDaniels will approach the running back core in Las Vegas, but they don’t have a shortage of talent. Besides Jacobs, the Raiders have RBs Kenyan Drake, Brandon Bolden, Ameer Abdullah and rookie Zamir White. However, if you subscribe to chasing strong offenses, Las Vegas is a desirable offense to target in 2022. If Jacobs can continue to carve out a consistent two-down role in the offense with red-zone duties, he could finish as an RB1 for the second time in three years. But if the rotation becomes cluttered and Jacobs’ touches per game drops again, an RB2 finish might be the best-case scenario. Jacobs is currently going on average as the RB20 in PPR formats, according to Fantasy Pros.
