The 49ers signed QB Josh Johnson off of the Broncos’ practice squad and onto their 53-man roster following their Week 13 win on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact: Johnson’s signing comes shortly after QB Jimmy Garoppolo was officially ruled out for the remainder of the season. He will presumably slide in as the backup to rookie QB Brock Purdy, who filled in and led the Niners to a win following Garoppolo’s exit. Johnson will also have a chance to compete for the starting job as an eight-year veteran familiar with the 49ers’ system from two prior stints.
