According to Ian Rapoport, QB Justin Herbert will undergo a battery of tests today to look for rib cartilage or other internal injuries after X-rays were apparently negative based on statements from head coach Brandon Staley.
Fantasy Impact: While we still don’t definitively know what X-rays showed, it is encouraging that it sounds like they are negative. However, rib cartilage injuries can also be exceptionally painful and slow to heal. He does have extra time to recover, given they don’t play again until September 25, so fantasy managers must exercise patience while awaiting word on Herbert’s status. Whether you need to stash a second QB depends on the size and depth of your league; since you presumably have already played Herbert for Week 2, you can wait for more information before making any moves. We will continue to update you as we learn more information.
