Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that’s former Pittsburgh QB Kenny Pickett will be visiting with the Carolina Panthers today.
Fantasy Impact: The Panthers, who hold the 6th pick the NFL draft later this month, have a big need at the quarterback position and are one of the more likely teams to select a QB in the draft. The Panthers have been aggressively trying to acquire a high end quarterback since last offseason when they were in pursuit of Matthew Stafford before he was traded to the Rams and were consistently linked to Deshaun Watson for the past year but ultimately lost out to the Browns. Pickett, who many NFL draft experts believe is the most pro-ready quarterback in the draft class, is a logical selection for the Panthers. Carolina head coach Matt Rhule is reported to be on the hot seat after a disappointing first two years on the job, and another losing season could result in him being shown the door. Pickett, who was a one-year wonder at Pitt, does an excellent job of keeping his eyes down field while facing pressure and is one of the more accurate passers at all three levels in the draft class. If Pickett’s visit with the Panthers goes well and he’s ultimately selected by the team, Rhule’s future in Carolina likely rides on Pickett’s right arm.
