Patriots wide receiver Kristian Wilkerson was carted off the practice field and taken to a local hospital for further evaluation on Wednesday, according to Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal. Wilkerson suffered what appeared to be an upper-body injury after taking a hard hit from the Panthers’ Kenny Robinson during a joint practice. Robinson taunted Wilkerson after the play, which sparked the third brawl between the Patriots and Panthers in two days. Panthers head coach Matt Rhule mentioned the possibility of releasing Robinson in the aftermath of today’s practice, but he’ll review film before making an official decision.
Fantasy Impact: Tensions are running high in Foxborough, and it has now led to a scary situation with Wilkerson. The 25-year-old has looked solid during camp and was competing for a roster spot, though Wednesday’s incident could create a setback for him. He racked up four receptions for 42 yards and two touchdowns in 2021.
