Ravens head coach John Harbaugh announced that quarterback Lamar Jackson will not play in Baltimore’s first preseason game on Thursday night against the Titans according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Fantasy Impact: This move is purely precautionary for the former MVP who is sitting along with many other “experienced starters”, including tight end Mark Andrews, to limit their workload and get others reps in this shortened preseason. Jackson has reportedly bulked up to 230 pounds after playing his entire NFL career under 210. The added bulk, mixed with Baltimore’s precautionary measures, should help the mobile quarterback stay healthier after missing the final six regular season games last season with an ankle injury. Jackson’s injury directly contributed to the Ravens going from the #1 overall seed in the AFC to missing the playoffs entirely in just six weeks. Lamar Jackson remains a Top 5 fantasy quarterback heading into the season with the perennial potential to finish QB1.
