Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. has impressed new head coach Doug Pederson in training camp with both his athletic ability and willingness to take on new roles. However, as John Reid of the Florida Times-Union notes, Shenault is still fourth on the Jaguars’ depth chart.
Fantasy Impact: When talking about Shenault, Pederson praised his work ethic, saying, “When he gets a rep, it’s 100 percent. That’s what really stood out with Laviska. He really prepares himself and he’s another player who wants to win and do what he can for the team.” General manager Trent Baalke also sees plenty of potential in the 23-year-old. He denies that the team ever considered trading Shenault and adds, “He does a lot of good things. Obviously, at his size and speed and the things that he can do, we have to find ways to get him the ball.” Shenault has upside as someone who can thrive in a hybrid role, providing value to the Jaguars sort of like Deebo Samuel did with the 49ers in 2021. He has also volunteered to return kicks on special teams in an effort to show the Jaguars that he still has value after two underwhelming seasons in the league. For now, buried at fourth on the wide receiver depth chart, Shenault doesn’t have much fantasy appeal. However, there’s no denying that he does have upside, so he might be worth taking a flier on in deeper leagues.
