Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said the team is “maybe … being overly cautious” with veteran TE Logan Thomas, who hasn’t practiced in a week due to a calf strain.
Fantasy Impact: Thomas is dealing with a calf strain, much like the one QB Joe Burrow suffered, so his timeline for recovery is a couple of weeks. Part of the abundance in caution for Thomas is his age, as the veteran TE is already 32 and has been no stranger to injury the last few years. Thomas had 323 yards in 14 games in 2022, played 68% of the team’s snaps last season – the lowest of his career in Washington – and is multiple years removed from his PPR TE3 finish in 2020. It’s hard to have optimism in Thomas in 2023, especially with rumblings about TE Cole Turner – who led the team in targets in preseason Week 1 – and the recent signing of Kaden Smith.
