According to team reporter Jim Wyatt, Tennessee Titans QB Malik Willis is not necessarily guaranteed a roster spot this season, though Wyatt expects him to make the 53-man cut alongside teammates Ryan Tannehill and Will Levis.
Fantasy Impact: After the Titans drafted Levis early in the second round, it seemed to indicate that the Titans could be moving on from Willis after an uninspiring rookie campaign. Willis is not guaranteed a roster spot since not every team carries more than two quarterbacks on an active roster, but the Titans could try to keep Levis and Willis to train them as Tannehill plays 2023 on his expiring deal. With the new rule allowing a third QB to be active on gameday not counting against your active roster, it could incentivize the Titans to carry just two on their active roster, but the Titans may prioritize the ability to double up on development. Wyatt also said that Willis has outperformed Levis in camp, though it’s very early in Levis’ career.
